U19 Boy's School Cricket Championship has started in Thimphu from last Sunday 6 September 2009. The matches are conducted in Changlimithang Cricket Ground and Jigmethang Cricket Ground. On the opening match no. 1 played at Changlimithang Cricket Ground, Yangchenphu HS School played against Nima HS School. Nima won the toss and elected to bat first. Nima Socred 108 runs in 23.4 overs loss of 10 wickets and in second inning Yangchenphu started with runrate 6 runs per over but with tight spin bowling and fielding from Nima, Yangchenphu all out for 68 runs. Man of the Match ws awaded to Dechen Wangchuk of Yangchenphu for scoring 35 runs and with 3 wickets.
In the Match no. 2 at Jigmethang Cricket Ground between Lungtenzampa A and Dechecholing. Luntenzampa won the toss and elected to Bat. With disciplined bowling and tight fielding of Dechocholing Lungtenzampa was allout for 42 runs. Dechencholing chased the target easily by scoring the target with in 6.2 overs. Man of the Match was awarded to Santosh Gurung of Dechencholing. "Change" is a theme of Bhutan Cricket in our 5 years development plan, I can see and feel it said CEO, Jigme Norbu. By the time when tournament will be over i beleive that boys are going to get enough matches experience to seat in the selection camp for National U19 squad.
Next match is on sunday where Luntenzampa A will face Yangchenphu at CC Ground and Dechencholing will face Motithang at JC Ground.
