Bhutan national senior team is undergoing with fitness training and players skill matrix for last 2 months in Thimphu. 23 probable’s players have been listed in the selection camp and they will go through 5 months training in Thimphu. However, still few players studying outside Bhutan are likely to join the camp from January 2010. Listed players were selected based on their performances in the recent tournaments and with their positive attitude towards Bhutanese team. The youth national coach Mr. DS Gurung who stopped his playing for last three years because of the responsibilities to look after junior level teams will be back to track in senior team most probably as a captain of the side. I have always enjoyed playing for my country and now this time I hope to be back but I think I have to really work hard towards my fitness said Mr. DS Gurung. Mr. DS Gurung is also the responsible person to plan the program for senior team and coordinate with them. I am happy that he is back and I am looking forward to play with him said Mr. Tshering Dorji current captain.

Bhutanese senior team has extremely performed well in the ACC Trophy Challenge last year to promote them to Elite group where they are going to face stronger teams playing in the world cricket league. In the final of ACC trophy Challenge Bhutanese boy’s faced Oman and they were just able to make 110 runs; which mean they have to lift their standard to play in the Elite group. In Elite group 10 teams will be participating and the bottom two teams of the tournament will be relegated to Challenge and top two teams of Challenge will enter into Elite.

Recently ICC has accepted Bhutan in the Pepsi World Cricket league Division 8 which will be held in Kuwait next year December 2010. So being in the elite group Bhutan will be playing more matches but to stay in elite group will be a tough task for them. Bhutanese cricket has everything if you look into talent, techniques and fitness but they have always struggled in playing tough matches which might be because of less matches they play or they don’t have standard teams in their country. This is a challenging task now for Bhutanese cricketers to decide whether they want to stay in elite or not but at the same time it will be interesting to see how they would perform in the forthcoming tournament. Bhutan team will be touring to India for match practices before commencing to tournament venue "Kuwait".
