Cricket in Bhutan: Expedition 2009
Year 2009 was a successful year for Bhutanese cricket towards development of Cricket in School and women’s. This year Bhutan Cricket had more than 13 teams participated in Women’s U16 & 19 Category and more than 34 teams in Class V&VI/ VII&VIII & U19 Boys category which mean more than 700 youth played in the school tournaments excluding those who were not selected in school teams but went through coaching. Increasing in coaching is different thing but increasing in playing is something we want said the CEO of BCCB. BCCB’s concern about development of youth cricket has already showed an example in ACC tournaments after reaching the final of ACC U15 Challenge Cup two times and U19 once. When Bhutan cricket was established their main concern was to set up cricket base among youth thou during that time it was very tough because of less experience in cricket cricketers was leading but with their passion about cricket and believing themselves passionate cricket lover have achieve today what they have aimed before. I was there from beginning and we know our dream and we are achieving now said the treasurer of BCCB. Bhutan is ranking 43 in the world and we never know when they will accelerate because they have promising cricketers building up day by day, from every part of Bhutan. My dream is to see my boys and Girls playing in big tournament for that they have to work hard to compare themselves with their level said Youth National Coach. He also said we have already reached in the ACC final of U15, U19 and Senior but now we have to starting winning the tournaments which is a next procedure to step into big tournaments.
