"Fare well, Afghanistan our team in the ICC World Twenty", so spoke Saeed Hamad Al Hamli the CEO of their sponsor Etisalat hours before the team left Dubai en route through London to the West Indies.

Etisalat have been sponsoring Afghanistan since 2007, starting with ICC World Cricket League Division 5, the first tournament Afghanistan won on their way to ODI status and a place among the world's best at the World Twenty20. "Etisalat supported us when we were just starting and relatively unknown," says Afghanistan's coach Kabir Khan.

Commercials for broadcast in the UAE and Afghanistan have been shot with the team at Sharjah Cricket Stadium, and another with Hamid Hassan the star fast-bowler.

"This team has already won, reaching the highest level of achieve such success with so limited resources is a remarkable achievement," says Etisalat Afghanistan's CEO. "Rebuilding Afghanistan is a guiding principle for us, as it is for the team who have shown us the true value of sport to a country."
